神經退化標誌研究-林詠峯老師

        先進國家或地區包括台灣,因人口老化和環境污染等問題,導致神經退化性失智如阿茲海默症(Alzheimer's disease, AD)的影響日益嚴重。根據統計,全世界的失智人口將近1%;而台灣目前已超過1%,估計2050年將達到4%。
已知β-類澱粉(β-Amyloid)胜肽的在腦中的堆積是這類神經退化的主因,因此本研究室利用生物資料庫數據,以及細胞和小鼠等實驗模型,並檢測臨床病人血液中的成份,探討神經退化中與類澱粉前驅蛋白(amyloid precursor protein, APP)的功能調節以及轉譯後修飾(post-translational modification, PTM)等相關之致病機轉和生物標誌;發現了神經退化與代謝障礙如糖尿病、高血脂之間的關聯。
另一方面也與校內外單位、機構和公司合作,使用多種植物萃取物、合成藥物、生技產品等,測試評估其療效和安全性,研究成果可作為將來臨床試驗的準備。

Figure 2. The microtubule-based vesicle transport machinery containing motor proteins and adaptors is vital for neuronal survival by delivering neurotrophic cargos such as APP. The level and modification of these proteins could serve as biomarkers for early diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
